Do LaB's Roots and Their Vision For Lightning in a Bottle

Do LaB, the Los Angeles-based event production company, has an incredible lineup ready for the 20th anniversary of their flagship festival, Lightning in a Bottle (LIB). The festival, known for its unique blend of electronic music, art installations, and workshops, will take place from May 24-29 at Buena Vista Lake in Southern California.

Do LaB, which was founded by brothers Josh and Jesse, and Dede Flemming, has been a fixture at Coachella since 1999, where they curate a stage that has become a favorite among festival-goers. The Do LaB stage at Coachella is known for its vibrant and immersive atmosphere, with giant water cannons, misting stations, and colorful art installations that create a unique experience for attendees.

The inspiration for Lightning in a Bottle came from the founders' desire to create a festival that focused on sustainability and community building. In the early years of LIB, the festival was held at various locations in California and featured a mix of live music and electronic acts, as well as yoga and meditation classes, workshops on sustainable living, and art installations.

Over the past two decades, Lightning in a Bottle has evolved into one of the most beloved festivals in the country, with a lineup that showcases the best in electronic music, from up-and-coming artists to established headliners. This year's lineup features top-tier acts like REZZ, Sofi Tukker, ZHU, Caribou, and Phantogram, as well as rising stars like Moore Kismet and Wreckno.

But LIB is more than just a music festival. The organizers have made a commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness, with initiatives like composting, recycling, and using solar power to reduce the festival's carbon footprint. The festival also offers a wide range of workshops and classes on topics like yoga, meditation, permaculture, and social justice.

At its core, Lightning in a Bottle is about creating a sense of community and connection, and the festival's founders have always made that a priority. In a statement, Jesse Flemming said, "Our intention is to create a space where people can come together and celebrate their individuality, while also recognizing our interconnectedness. We believe that through music, art, and education, we can inspire positive change in the world."

For those attending this year's festival, expect to be transported to a world of vibrant colors, pulsating beats, and thought-provoking workshops. And don't forget to bring your reusable water bottle!
