Man Finds Out His Pop Culture References Can't Hide How Much Of A Loser He Is
The Internet is a marvelous place. It allows people to exchange not only currency and things with each other but words, and lots and lots of them. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter allow you to say whatever you want, and everyone in your friend circle gets to read it.
The case was the same for a 28-year-old copywriter Dave. While he thought he was illustrating who he was in all his glory using pop-culture references, his friends on Facebook did not feel the same way.
Dave first posted a post saying “It’s interesting how many parallels exist between Tony Stark and me. He is sarcastic AF, and so am I :3.” After someone commented asking him “Then why are you, a 28-year-old man, still being a copywriter instead of creating a nano-tech robot suit for himself?” Dave gave no reply.
In another instance, Dave also likened himself to Sherlock Holmes. “Whenever I watch Sherlock, I think about how odd it is that I am just like him. I always deduce things from mere observation. There is nothing that I ever miss.” That again aroused a question from one of his Facebook friends, who asked “Then do you know who stole your bike last month?” This time, Dave had a reply, and he said “Oh, actually I forgot to lock the bike :3.”
The contradiction was bare for all to see this time. Another person asked, “How did you miss that if you never miss anything?” Dave did not reply again, which only prompted other people to fill up the section with embarrassing experiences with him. “He be noticing everything but that fact that he a loser,” said someone, while “homie, stop watching movies and pick up 8th-grade maths again,” said another. However, the biggest punch landed from a girl he’d creeped out.
“Oh, you never miss anything? Then how come you miss me and tell me that with 50+ messages every day after I told you I don’t wanna talk to you no more?”
This time, Dave knew he had too many haters and no recourse. He deactivated his account, never to be seen again. Is Dave still Marvel movies? No idea. Is he still a fan of Sherlock? Perhaps. Has he even read the novels? Absolutely not. Is he still slaving away as a copywriter? Yes, of course. But is he a loser? Oh, you can bet your sweet ass he is.
